A Multitude of Creatures
In intriguing news, the Vatican has just finished a five-day conference exploring the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Participants agreed the issue raises difficult questions: Would Jesus save aliens, too? We applaud the open-mindedness the conference suggests. Still, a thought: If these old celibate men truly want to take a journey of intellectual discovery, perhaps they should start closer to home. The alien issues of women, sexuality and contraception await them.
"Just as there is a multitude of creatures on Earth, there could be other beings, even intelligent ones, created by God. This does not contradict our faith, because we cannot put limits on God's creative freedom." - the Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory.
