The Next Attack of the Homeland Will Likely Come From Within

Terrorism Vulnerability Management: Whatever Can Happen Will.

Anyone planning an attack on the United States would distract authorities with numerous failed attempts at conventional access or entry into the Homeland. Attacks and/or entry via conventional airline would be used to divert resources so that less attention would be given to unconventional access.

Length of US coastline is 19,924 km or 12,382 miles. Most of that is unguarded and easily accessible

The length of US water and land boundary with Canada is 5,525 miles. More than half is unguarded and not patrolled.

Boundary line of the U.S.-Canadian border, excluding Alaska, is approximately 3,987 miles

The length of the U.S.-Mexican border is estimated at 1,933 miles but much less vulnerable than the U.S. coastline or from Canada.

Access from the Caribbean Islands via low visibility cruise or sporting vessels.

Access to coastline via fishing boats in areas of low or no surveillance.

Consider terrorists using the guise of hunting parties or even as Border Patrol or other U.S. game, wildlife, or other officials who would not draw attention or question.

Consider also militia compounds or private facilities where men with weapons would not appear unusual as in northern border states. Consider proximity to communities with large Arab or ethnic centers where appearance would not draw undue attention.

It is reasonable to expect the next attack to come from within the Homeland because all our attention is seemingly focused on very obvious decoys and deception. Even al Qaeda has to know this. How stupid can we be?

Alert citizens, especially the Muslim community, will be our first line of defense. Our leaders are too busy playing intrusive games in airports and war games and offer us nothing more than diverted attention and resources.
